هكذا بدا المشهد للعموم، لكن الكاتب رأى في خطوة بائع الخضر هذا احتجاجاً صارخاً على القيود البيروقراطية التي حرمته من أبسط حقوقه في الحياة.
كتابٌ يستعرض المشهد من تونس إلى مصر وصولاً إلى الولايات المتحدة بحركة احتلوا وول ستريت، ثم اليونان وأزمتها المالية، وإسبانيا والفيلبين بشوارعها المتململة شعبيّاً. ولم يكن الهدف تغطية الحدث بقدر ما كان البحث عن الأسباب والدوافع الظاهرة والخفية لحراك المدن.
وقد تمكن مايسون من الإمساك بأطراف الخيوط الاقتصادية لكلّ تحرُّك، في قراءة منهجية بدأها بما جرى في العقد الماضي من أحداث غير عادية أتت مكثفة وسريعة وخلطت الأوراق كلّها، وأضاعت الرؤية فما عاد أحد يتكهَّن ما يمكن أن يحدث بعد وأكّد أن الرغيف لم يعد يحاصر الشعب في الأنظمة التي تتَّبع سياسة العصا والجزرة، بل أصبح شغله الشاغل إبراز الحقيقة ولو على حساب لقمته أو حياته.
