هذا الكتاب هو الأوّل من نوعه باللغة العربيّة. لم يترك مؤلّفاه، إياد وحنان أبو شقرا، أمراً ذا صلة بالسجّاد الشرقي إلاّ وتحدّثا عنه. بدءاً بانطلاقة هذا الفنّ ومراحل تطوّره في عدد من البلدان، مروراً بلوازمه وتقنيّاته، وانتهاء بالتصاميم الفنيّة التي تشمل النقوش والزخارف.
يُطلع القارئ على أنواع السجّاد ومزايا كلّ منها، وعلى طريقة تمييز الرديء من الجيّد، والممتاز من المُصنّف باباً أوّلَ. ويتضّمن نصائح تطيل عمر السجّادة وتعلّم كيفيّة تنظيفها وصيانتها.
كتاب مفيد ليس فقط لجامعي السجّاد الذين يجدون فيه معلومات جديدة، وأخرى غابت عنهم، إنّما كذلك للذين يلمّون إلماماً محدوداً جدّاً بعالم السجّاد، إذ يزوّدهم إرشادات وافرة لا بدّ من معرفتها لدى شراء سجّادة كي يتلافوا الغشّ والتزوير.
