"لقد اتفق لـ"روبرت كون" أن يضحي، ذات مرة بطلاً للملاكمة، من وزن المتوسط، في جامعة (برنستون). ولا يذهبن بكم الظن إلى أنني أوخذ بلقب بطل ملاكمة، ولكن الأركان بالنسبة "كون" كان ذات شأن كبير. ولم يكن "كون" يحب الملاكمة، كان ينفر منها في الواقع، ولكنه تعلمها بمشقة،وحذقها الحقذ كله، ليساوق الشعور بالنقص والخجل الذي كان يجاذبه وهو يعامل في جامعة (برنستون) على أنه يهودي كان مما يسرى عنه أن يعلم أنه قادر على التطويح بكل من يتصدى له، بوقاحة. وإذا ان فتى هجولاً لطيفاً فإنه لم يكن يعمد إلى الملاكمة، إلا في مدرسة الألعاب الرياضية". لم يبق أرنست همنغواي غريباً على قراء العربية، فقد قرأوا له قبل اليوم العديد من القصص الرائعة، وها نحن نقدم إليهم اليوم أروع ما في تراث همنغواي من خوال باقية على الدهر "ولا زال الشمس تشرق" وفيها يحاول تحليل كوامن النفس الإنسانية وطبائعها المتناقضة ونزواتها المذهلة، وذلك بعد أن يرسم خلجات نفس كاتب غير موهوب وثري يريد إنفاق أمواله في طلب ملذاته الحسية،و هواء شابة كانت أقرب إلى اللامبالاة... ولعل أروع ما في هذه الرواية ذلك الحب الذي يحرق نفسه العاجزة عن الذهاب به إلى غاياته القصوى.
