”وكم في الثورة من محبطات، الحقيقة أنّ قليلًا من الثورة يكفي. تكفي الرمزية، أو على الأقل مجازًا. الوقائع ثقيلة، والتتابع اليومي اللاهث لا تتحمله خلاياي التالفة أصلًا. لا يحتملُ جهازي العصبي ذلك الهدر البطيء، المستمر للطاقة، فأنا مستنزف ويَمرُّ اليوم العادي عليّ بحسابات الندم على كل خلية خسرتها. كل سيجارة تُخرّب ميلليمترًا جديدًا من الرئة، كل بول دافق بوتيرة أقل، كل نَفَس محشرجة بعد دفقة من الحماس المرتبط دائمًا بانبجاسة. والثورات ثقيلة بخاصرتها غير المكتملة، بأفعوانات تفاصيلها المراوغة، وأراجوزات عرضها العام. أما الجمهور فأُعاديه، أُعادي ما في الكلمة من روح قطيع مضمرة. أنا لا أُفلِح إلا على مائدة لا تزيد على ثلاثة أشخاص، نتبادل فيها لوثة العقل على مشروب مترع. فحتى في لحظات احتشاد الميدان، كان البحث عن صديق منجاة من غربة الأكتاف الموحدة، مارشات الهتاف التي تحتاج إلى "سنّيدة"، ومنذ اتخذت قرارًا بالكفر بالجماعة، وأنا لا أثق إلا بالحروف وبلاغتها. لا أعوّل إلا على ما تُضيفه كلماتي في كتاب مفتوح. أكره السياسة باجتماعاتها وإجماعها، حتى حين أتحدث فيها. تعجبني الثنايا، ما في بدائية أهلها من علاقة بوثائقيات الناشيونال جيوجرافيك، وما في نجومها وصناعتهم من تكرار ممل لخطوط التصنيع المميكنة. "الملل الثوري"، سأكتب عنه كعرض دائم، مثلما كان الملل من الاستبداد مقيمًا في الكتابة هنا لنحو 11 عامًا، يبدو أن الملل وحده هو الدافع الحقيقي للكتابة، فالوجود المستقر العصيّ على خدش وقائعه هو موت للخيال.
