قناعتي أن لسان العامّة هو دومًا المصدر الأساسي لقاموس لغة الأشعار العامّية المصرية.
ولذلك فإن كل الأشعار في هذا الكتاب من وحي شوارع مصر، حيث طاردت سيارات النقل والتكاتك والميكروباصات ملتقطًا صورًا لما هو مكتوب عليها متخيلاً نفسي مكان مؤلفها المجهول.
كيف كان سيُكمِل لو كان يملك الموهبة والوقت والفرصة؟
توقفت أمام "يُفَط" المحال التجارية المعلقة في الشوارع، ممعنًا النظر مستخدمًا خيالي لما قد يمكن أن يكون له معنى آخر غير المقصود المباشر.
تأملت في الأشعار والعبارات التلقائية المنقوشة على الحوائط والجدران وواجهات المباني، واضعًا نفسي مكان كاتبها مستعيرًا قلبه وروحه مكملاً لما بدأ، متمنياً أن أكون عند حُسن ظنِه إذا قرأ ما أكملت نيابةً عنه.
استرجعت جُمَلاً وقفشات سمعتها في الحارات والشوارع، من شخصيات قد أعرفها أو لا أعرفها، ورأيتني مستحضِرًا روح الشخصية حاضرة في غرفة الكتابة أحدثُها وتُحدثُني.
