حول هذا الكيان الأدبي الجديد يقول الكاتب زهران القاسمي: الرواية تأخذ موضوع جمع العسل وعالم النحالين في البئية القروية والجبلية، وتتحدث الرواية عن ثلاث شخصيات ، وهم أصدقاء يبحثون عن العسل، وكل شخصية لها عالمها النفسي والاجتماعي. الرواية تدور فكرتها حول فلسفة الجوع وعنوانها “جوع العسل” وهو دلالة على الجمع المفرط “الشهواني”، وكل نفس لها جوعها الخاص المتعلق بشي معين والبعض تجد عنده جوع الجنس والبعض الاخر جوع العشق وفي اخر تجد عنده جوع الكيف. فمثلا الذي يحب التدخين يحب أيضا أن يتعامل مع الجوانب المؤدية إلى تلك التي تسد جوعه النفسي الأقرب إلى لذة العسل من الناحية الفلسفية.
