رواية المرأة التي كتبت التوراة امرأةٌ قبيحةٌ، لها جسمٌ مثالي، ومزاجٌ ناريّ، وقدرةٌ على القراءة والكتابة كامتيازٍ في زمانها، لكنَّها قبيحة الوجهِ، القبحُ هنا أساسيٌّ، كما الحيلة، والمفارقات التاريخية الكوميدية التي يستحثُّها الخيال حين تكتبُ التوراةَ امرأة. هذا ما يفترضه مُواسير سكليار في روايته هذه. ثُمَّ يُقدِّم تفسيراً لا منطقياً لميلاد النَّص المقدس. ذاتُ الوجه القبيح، ابنةُ زعيمِ قبيلةٍ، ينتهي بها المطاف لتكونَ بين حريم الملك سليمان، الزوجة رقم 701، وتقع في غرامِه. وفي خضمِّ المؤامرات التي تُحاك والخطط المأساوية ومحاولات الإغواء، يصبح القبحُ سلاحاً مثله مثل الذكاء تماماً، ويطلب الملك سليمان شخصياً مِنْها أن تَسْرِدَ كتابةً قصَّةَ شعبِ إسرائيل. ليس تدنيساً مجَّانيَّ الغرضِ للأسطورة، بل رؤية خارجَ السِّياق، ساخرة، بلمسةٍ نسوية. إنَّ هذه الرواية باختصار هي فعلُ تمرُّدٍ ضدَّ قناعاتٍ مُفرطة في تفاؤلِها، أو ربَّما تكون مجرَّد لعبة استفزازية ومُسَلِّية لا أكثر، لواحدٍ من أعظم الكتّاب البرازيليين المعاصرين.
