الشعر... والخيل... والأصدقاء... ثلاثة أشياء تجمّل الحياة... وتجعلها أقل جفافاً... وبالشعر أستطيع أن أتحدث عن كل أشياء الحياة الجميلة والحزينة، ما يواسي الآلام، وما يُزهر الآمال...
لكن الشعر ليس مثل الأصدقاء أو مثل نجائب الخيل... متى ما جئته وجدته ومتى ما طرقت بابه فتح لي.... فأجمل ما في القصيد أنه يتمنّع ويراوغ أحياناً، ليقول لك: عسفي ما زال عسيراً...
الشعر في حياتي دواء أكثر منه تسلية... فلا يداوي حنيني لوالدي رحمه الله إلا ما علّمني من جميل الشعر... أردده وكأني ألقيه أمامه... ولا أستطيع أن أتذكر كل أحبابي بعيداً عن الشعر.
ولا يشفي روحي المتعبة من الجفاء إلا بقصيدة تقول مثلاً: خذتهم الدنيا... ولا باقي... أحد... وأنا انتظرهم، مير ما الله جابهم!!... احدن لهى واحدن نسى واحدن جحد يا أصحابهم ليه اقطعوا!! بآصحابهم!!...
وهذه تجربتي بين أيديكم، أسميتها: "خمسة أنهار" لعلها تسقي أرضاً شققها العطش فترتوي وتنبت على ضفافها أعشاب المشاعر المشجيّة...
هذه ليست كلمات صففتها بين يوم وليلة وضمنتها هذا الديوان... فلي مع كل قصيدة حكاية، وذكرى، وأفق بعيد... غابت شمسه أو طلعت...
هذا الشعر معجون بلحمي ودمي... كلماته سرت في أوردتي... فكانت السلوى والحلوى والنجوى... وشغف السؤال وحيرة الإجابات...
ديواني بين أيديكم فيه صورة "بن دهيم" الحقيقية بلا رتوش... صورة اختارت أن تكسر الإطار...
