هذا كتاب إشكالي بلا شك، ويدرك الباحث ذلك، ويتوقع أن توجه له تهما متنوعة، من أشخاص وجهات متعددة ومختلفة المشارب الفكرية والسياسية، لكنّه يُقْدم على هذا البحث الجريء من باب الأمانة العلمية أولا، ومن باب المسؤولية الإنسانية ثانيا تجاه الصراعات التي عاشتها منطقتنا عبر القرون على أسس طائفية ومذهبية متعددة. لذلك نجده يهدي كتابه إلى الإنسان.. الإنسان.. المتحرر من سطوة أسطورة إنسان أوثان الأديان. بمعنى الإنسان المتحرر من التعصب الديني الأعمى.
يوجه الكتاب نقداً لكثير من المسلمات الدينية التي تستمد جذورها من الأساطير المغرقة في القدم عند أصحاب الديانات السماوية وأصحاب المذاهب، ولم يستثني أحدا، أي أنه لم يكن منحازا، بل وجد أن عمله هذا يتطلب منه التخلي عن انحيازاته المسبقة، وأن يكون مخلصا للعقل والبحث العلمي.
