حسين مقبل شاعرٌ يمني ولد في 20 مارس عام 1988م في حصبان التابعة لمديرية المسراخ في ريف تعز، التي قضى فيها فترة الطفولة والشباب والدراسة، قبل أن ينتقل إلى مدينة تعز في عام 2008 لمواصلة الدراسة الجامعية في كلية العلوم (مختبرات طبية).
في عام 2012 انتقل حسين إلى العاصمة صنعاء، ولكنه لم يبق فيها أكثر من سنة، ليتنقل بعدها بين دول أفريقية عدة، مثل ليبيا والصومال وتشاد وكينيا وتونس…، عمل خلالها في مجال حقوق الإنسان.
انتقل في عام 2016 إلى ألمانيا، ومن هناك أصدر أول مجموعة شعرية له بعنوان "أصافح ظلي" (2019).

ها قد أتيتُ مُسائلاً عن ليلِ أُنسي ..
قد جئتُ سعياً من أقاصي الوقتِ
والخطواتُ تُبتَرُ في ممراتِ الزمان،
من دفترِ التاريخِ ضاع غدي
واليوم أصبح بعد هذا التيه أمسي.
مَن ها هُنا؟
لا شيءَ غيرَ براعمٍ تنمو بخارطةِ الهوان،
وكلُّ هذا التيه أشجاري وغرسي .
ماذا تركتُم للسحابِ تجيئني بِظلالها؟
لن تمنعوا عني نسيمَ الغيم
إنّي جئتُ مصحوباً بأقماري وشمسي.
ما كان أقبحَ أن أرى موتي تُوسِّدهُ الأعادي يومَ عُرسي،
ما كان أفظعَ أن أجرَّ معاولي لأشق رَمسي .
جبلٌ من الآهاتِ، والأوجاعِ
حيثُ الليلُ يُدجي الضوءَ
يُربكُ في ضُحاه الشمسَ،
يسرقُ من صغار النجم بهجتها
ويدهنُ بالسوادِ الصبحَ،
آتي حاملاً وطني كنعشٍ فوق رأَسي.
يا قُبح قل لي:
هل سواك هنا؟
سأبحث في خُطوط الضوء عن وطنٍ،
أعيش بهامتي حراً عليه
يصونُ أنفاسي ونفْسي.
قد جئتُ من كونٍ خرافيٍّ
لعلِّي واجداً وطناً يحنُّ عليَّ
يُصْلِحُ بين أشجاري وفأسي.
