لقد كانت رسالة الرسول محمد "صلى الله عليه وسلم" بعثاً جديداً للإنسانية كلها، فقد ربى أصحابه تربية إسلامية كاملة متكاملة، ولذلك فإنهم حملوا الأمانة وبلغوا الرسالة، وغيّروا الموازين الدولية وطوّروا الأوضاع الاجتماعية في كل الدول التي فتحوها، بحيث يمكن القول: إن ظهور الإسلام كان تاريخاً جديداً لروح الإنسان.
كان الفتح الإسلامي لشبه جزيرة إيبيريا "إسبانيا والبرتغال"، والتي سميت بعد ذلك بالأندلس، وفرصة أهّلت المسلمين لاكتشاف كثير من الأشياء التي لم تكن معروفة من قبل، وكان المسلمون في ذلك الوقت يحملون لواء حضارة جديدة تفوقت على حضارات الشعوب الأخرى، وكانوا من التماسك النفسي والخلقي بحيث لم يقف دونهم شيء.
نعم لقد فتح العرب تلك البلاد وقلوبهم يصفيها الإسلام، والإيمان يدفعهم إلى نشر دينهم وإعلاء كلمته، وكانوا يحملون معهم تراثاً حضارياً رائعاً لم تعرفه الجزيرة الإيبيرية من قبل.
