بعد إن تدهورت حالة (سارة) ؛ بسبب الضرب الشديد الذي تلقته من "وليم" في أخر لقاء بينهم ، وأصبحت حالتها سيئة. وقبل موتها حدثت لها أمور غريبه وتصرفاتها التي لم تعجب أحد.
وبعد موت (سارة) داخل الصندوق أثناء عرض السيرك ؛ بسبب أعضاء السيرك الذين طمعوا في الاستيلاء على كل أموال رئيسهم "أمون" (الشطرنجي) قاموا بإيقاعه في موقف يرثي له ، وكانت الضحية البنت (سارة) ، وتم التحقيق بالقضية إلى إن تم إعدام "أمون" ومات مظلوم ، وبعدها اختلفوا فيما بينهم ، وتم توزيع الأموال ، وكل واحد منهم ذهب بحال سبيله.
(سارة) ماتت بدون ذنب وذهبت إلى العالم الأخر (عالم الأرواح) وهو ما بعد الموت. ولكن تتغير الظروف ويحدث لــــ (روح سارة) أمر يجعلها تعيش بعالم الأنس ، وتكون (روح سارة) بطلة الرواية مع أخيها (حسان) و (شرطوط).
