مارون بن حنا بن الخوري يوحنا عبّود (1886 - 1962)، كاتب وأديب لبناني كبير.. ولد في عين كفاع (من قرى جبيل).
حياته
في سنواته في المدرسة أبدى ميولا أدبية وتفوق في مجال اللغة العربية كما أصدر في عامه الدراسي الأخير مجلة أدبية أسماها الصاعقة. كان قد بدأ بكتابة القصائد ونشر بعضها في جريدة الروضة. أدخله إلى مدرسة مار يوحنا مارون. التي أمضى فيها أربعة أعوام ولكنه رفض الأستمرار فيها لأن أباه كان يقصد بإلحاقه بها أن يهيأه للحياة الكهنوتية ما رغب عنه مارون ورفضه رفضا قاطعا. بعد ذلك التحق بمدرسة الحكمة حيث أمضى فيها سنتين. وقد وجد مارون في هذه المدرسة الجو المؤاتي لتفتح مواهبه الأدبية كما احتك بعدد من الطلاب المولعين بالشعر أمثلا: رشيد تقي الدين وأحمد تقي الدين وسعيد عقل وغيرهم.
وفاته
توفي مارون عبود عام 1962 عن عمر يناهز السابعة والسبعين.

Book Description
كتابٌ في النّقد الأدبي ألّفه الأديب والنّاقد مارون عبّود، يبيّن فيه قيمةَ النّقد وأهمّيته في دعم حركة الأدب ومضيّ عجلتها، مبديًا ضيقَه من أدباءٍ اعتادوا المديح والتبجيل، وقد خلطوا بين النّقد والحسد، أو النّقد البنّاء وذك الذي يعتمد على أسبابٍ شخصيّة.
ذكر في مقدّمة الكتاب حديثًا بين الشّيطان وإيفان، وهو ما جاء في رواية « كرامازوف» للقاصّ الشّهير دوستوفسكي: "فقال الشّيطان لإيفان: يجب أن تشكّ وتجحد، فبدون الشّك والجحود لا نقد، وبدون النّقد كيف ننقِّح ونهذِّب، إذا توارى النّقد لم يَبْقَ إلاّ «أوصانا»، وهذا لا يكفي، يجب أن نضع التّقريظ والنّقد في كفَّتَي الميزان، ومع ذلك فما أنا الذي اخترعت النّقد، ولست أنا تيس الخطيئة، يجب أن أنتقد لأن النقد أصل الحياة".
تناول الكتاب إمارة الشِّعر، وآراءً في الشّعر والشّعراء، وتحدّث عن عبَّاس محمود العقّاد متناولاً ثلاثة دواوين له، وأحمد الصّافي النّجفي، الزهّاوي، بشارة الخوري، شبلي ملاّط، والبراعم لُعمر يحيَى، وعبقَر لشفيق معلوف.
