مارون بن حنا بن الخوري يوحنا عبّود (1886 - 1962)، كاتب وأديب لبناني كبير.. ولد في عين كفاع (من قرى جبيل).
حياته
في سنواته في المدرسة أبدى ميولا أدبية وتفوق في مجال اللغة العربية كما أصدر في عامه الدراسي الأخير مجلة أدبية أسماها الصاعقة. كان قد بدأ بكتابة القصائد ونشر بعضها في جريدة الروضة. أدخله إلى مدرسة مار يوحنا مارون. التي أمضى فيها أربعة أعوام ولكنه رفض الأستمرار فيها لأن أباه كان يقصد بإلحاقه بها أن يهيأه للحياة الكهنوتية ما رغب عنه مارون ورفضه رفضا قاطعا. بعد ذلك التحق بمدرسة الحكمة حيث أمضى فيها سنتين. وقد وجد مارون في هذه المدرسة الجو المؤاتي لتفتح مواهبه الأدبية كما احتك بعدد من الطلاب المولعين بالشعر أمثلا: رشيد تقي الدين وأحمد تقي الدين وسعيد عقل وغيرهم.
وفاته
توفي مارون عبود عام 1962 عن عمر يناهز السابعة والسبعين.

ناولت «مي زيادة» في هذه الرسالة مفهوم «المساواة» عبر مرورها على عدة مصطلحات ومناهج حُكْمِيَّة وسُلطَويَّة, فبعد أن أشارت إلى الطبقات الاجتماعية انحدرت نحو الأرستقراطية مناقِشةً فيما بعدُ ظاهرتَي العبودية والديمقراطية, كما فنَّدت الاشتراكية بنوعَيها السلمي والثوري, متطرقةً إلى مصطلح الفوضوية وتاريخه الأوروبي. ولم تُخفِ الكاتبة الإيمان بفكر الاشتراكية الذي يظهر جليًّا في الكتاب كله تقريبًا, وأنها الحل وأنها الطريق, وأن المستقبل كله لها, وأن كل ما سبق في التاريخ الاجتماعي للإنسان يصل بنا لهذه الغاية؛ وهذا لِمَا مثَّلته الاشتراكية وقتَها من نظامٍ يطغى على سائر النُّظُم. والكتاب ذو مُحتوًى مهمٍّ عن التطوُّر الاجتماعي للبشر, كما أنه لمسة فكرية على عدة نُظُم اجتماعية تصدَّرت المشهد فترةً ليست بالقليلة من عُمر الإنسان في العصر الحديث.
