الحارث بن أسد بن عبد الله العنزي المحاسبي البصري كنيته أبو عبد الله، سمي المحاسبي لأنه كان يحاسب نفسه. أحد العلماء في القرن الثالث الهجري، بصرى ُّالأصل، مات ببغداد سنة ثلاث وأربعين ومائتين. يقول عنه أبو عبد الرحمن السلمي [؟] أنه «أستاُذ أكثرِ البغداديين »؛ وهو من أَهل البصرة ولد سنة 170 هـ.
أخباره
كان الحارث المحاسبی أستاذ أكثر البغداديين وهو من مشايخ القوم بعلوم الظاهر والمعاملات والأشارات، ھو أصله من البصرة وسكن بغداد .و معاصريه أحمد بن حنبل .
ورعه
أنه ورث عن أبيه سبعين ألف درهم، فلم يأخذ منها شيئا، أي لأن أباه كان قدرياً، فتركه ورعاً، لاختلاف العلماء في تفكيرهم، وقال: « صحت الرواية أنه لا يتوارث أهل ملتين شيئاً ». ومات وهو محتاج إلى درهم. وروي أنه كان إذا مد يده إلي الطعام فيه شبهة تحرك إصبعه عرق، فكان يمتنع منه. وقال الجنيد: « مرّ بي يوماً، فرأيت فيه أثر الجوع، فقلت: "يا عم، ندخل الدار وتتناول شيئاً"، فقال: "نعم" فدخلت الدار، وحملت إليه طعاماً، من عرس قوم؛ فأخذ لقمة وأدارها في فيه مراراً، ثم قام وألقاها في الدهليز وفر، فلما رأيته بعد أيام، قلت له في ذلك، فقال: "أني كنت جائعاً أن أسرك بأكلي وأحفظ قلبك، ولكن بيني وبين الله علامة: ألا يسوغني طعاما فيه شبهة، فلم يمكنني ابتلاعه، فمن أين كان ذلك الطعام". فقلت: "أنه حمل من دار قريب لي من العرس" ثم قلت له: "تدخل اليوم" فقال: "نعم" فقدمت اليه كسراً كانت لنا فأكل، وقال: "إذا قدمت إلى فقير شيئاً فقدم مثل هذا". »
