محمد بن عبد الواحد بن أحمد بن عبد الرحمن بن إسماعيل بن منصور السعدي(1)، المقدسي(2) الأصل، الجماعيلي(3)، ثم الدمشقي(4)، الصالحي(5)، الحنبلي(6).
كنيته ولقبه
كُنِّيَ بأبي عبد الله من قبيل تكنية أولي الفضل وقد استحب ذلك أهل العلم ولم يكن يكنِّي نفسه كما هو ملاحظ في مصنفاته وعلى طباق السماع التي كان يكتبها بخط يده، وإنما اشتهرت كنيته ممن تتلمذ عليه وحدث عنه.
ولُقب بـ ضياء الدين أو الحافظ الضياء، قال عنه المنذري في التكملة: «المنعوت بـ الضياء». وقد اشتهر بهذا اللقب وبه عُرف بين أهله وأقرانه ومعاصريه حتى إن المدرسة التي أنشأها داراً للحديث عُرفت بالضيائية نسبة إلى هذا اللقب، وبه يذكره معظم العلماء والمحدثين في مصنفاتهم.
مولده ونشأته
ولد بالدير المبارك، بجبل قاسيون، في مدينة دمشق، وكان ذلك في 6 جمادى الآخرة، سنة 569 هـ، كما أخبر بذلك عن نفسه، ونقله عنه تلميذه وابن أخيه الفخر علي بن البخاري حيث قال:
كما كتب ذلك بخطه وقرأه تلميذه ابن النجار، وبه أيضاً أجاب تلميذه زكي الدين البرزالي حين سأله عن تاريخ مولده ولم يخالف هذا التاريخ أحد ممن ترجموا للضياء سوى ما ذكره النعيمي وابن طولون أنه ولد سنة 567 هـ. وقال المتأخرون أن الصواب هو 569 هـ بسبب وهم عند النعيمي وأما ابن طولون فقد نقل ذلك عن النعيمي.
