هذا كتاب مفيد ولطيف, قسمه مؤلفه الى ثلاثة مقاصد: ما نص عليه الإمام أحمد رضي الله عنه, ما وقع فيه الخلاف بين الأثرية والأشعرية, مسألة القرآن, والتي هي لب اختلاف أكثر فرق الأمة, حيث ينقل المؤلف في هذا المقصد عن الأشعرية كالسيد الشريف الجرجاني, والشهرستاني, كذا عن بعض الصوفية, كالملا عبد الرحمن الجامي, وابن العربي, بصرف النظر عن الرد في تلك الأقوال التي تصدر عن هؤلاء, كما نقل المؤلف عنهم ما يمكن الاحتجاج به على من يتولونهم, مع مخالفتهم لهم في حقيقة الأمر, كما أنه لم يتم النقل عن الفتوحات المكية مباشرة, وإنما عن الجامي الذي نقل عن الفتوحات. وأهم ما تناوله الكتاب: معرفة الله تعالى, في الأفعال, في الأحكام, في بقية السمعيات, في النبوة.
هو عبد الباقي بن عبد الباقي بن عبد القادر بن عبد الباقي بن ابراهيم بن عمر بن محمد البعلي , ولد سنة 1005هجرية, رحل في طلب العلم وتحصيله, أهم شيوخه: الحجاوي- البهوتي- المرشدي- عبد الرحمن الخياري, أهم مؤلفاته: اقتطاف الثمر في موافقات عمر- عقد الفرائد في نظم من الفوائد, توفي سنة1071هجرية.
