محمد فريد (1284 - 1338 هـ = 1868 - 1919 م)
محمد فريد (بك) ابن أحمد فريد (باشا): رئيس الحزب الوطني أيام الاحتلال البريطاني، بمصر، وأحد نوابغها. من أصل تركي. ولد في القاهرة وتعلم في مدرستي الألسن والحقوق، وولي نيابة الاستئناف، ثم احترف المحاماة وانقطع إلى الخدمة العامة، فكان مع مصطفى كامل (باشا) في كثير من رحلاته إلى أوربة. ولما توفي مصطفى كامل انتخب محمد فريد رئيسا للحزب (سنة 1908) وحبس ونفي (سنة 1912) وساح سياحات كثيرة، مدافعا عن قضية مصر، معلنا ظلامتها، إلى أن توفي ببرلين. ونقل جثمانه إلى القاهرة. وقد أنفق كل ماله في سبيل بلاده.
له كتب، منها (تاريخ الدولة العلية - ط) و (من مصر إلى مصر - ط) رحلة في بلاد الأندلس ومراكش والجزائر، و (البهجة التوفيقية في تاريخ مؤسس العائلة الخديوية - ط) و (تاريخ الرومانيين - ط) الجزء الأول منه. ولعبد الرحمن الرافعي كتاب (محمد فريد، رمز الإخلاص والتضحية - ط) ولأحمد شوقي المحامي (محمد فريد - ط)
