تفنن الشياطين المرتدون ثياب البشر فى تعذيب ناجى فى المعتقل ونقلوه بين سجون عديدة، من بينها سجن العقرب الرهيب ربما ليضللوا اهله او يمسحوا بهم تراب الطرقات ويبللوا بعرق قلوبهم كل وسائل المواصلات، وفى تلك الاثناء كان ناجى يرسل الرسائل الكثيرة لريم دون ان تتسلم منها حرفا واحدا، لم تكن تعلم ما السبب وما السر فى هذا الاختفاء، ساورها بالحاح كابوس قرر ان يقنعها لتصدقه بان ناجى قتل وتم عجنه مع الاسمنت والرمل فى خلاطة ثم صبه فى قاعدة مبنى جديد لمباحث امن الدولة كجزء من الخطة التى تستهدف ان يكون فى كل حى مقر حفاظا على الوقت حتى لايتعب الضباط ولا اهالى المعتقلين، ريم تلك الجميلة مثل امها زينب التى تيمها الغرام بنبيل اما ماحدث من مرسى فقد فاق كل التصورات وصدم كل المشاعر وزلزل شخصيتها وبدلها كما تبدل هو ذاته، تصرف مجنون وغير محسوب بالمرة قلب كل الموازين والثوابت وجرجر عددا من شخصيات العائلة والحى الى مهاو كثيرة ومفجعة
