ظهر في الآونة الأخيرة من يزعم أن الدجال مجرد خرافة ويطعن في الأحاديث الصحيحة التي وردت بشأن خروج المسيح الدجال في آخر الزمان. والتي تبدو في الظاهر متعارضة مع بعضها البعض من ناحية أخرى. مما جعل البعض يلجأ إلى تأويل الأحاديث، أو حتى إلى إنكارها- رغم صحة الأسانيد- ويستدلون على ذلك: بإنكار بعض العلماء ما مع الدجال من خوارق وذكروا أن ذلك مخالف لسنن الله تعالى في خلقه وقالوا: ما ذكر فيها من خوارق تضاهي أكبر الآيات التي أيد الله بها أولي العزم من المرسلين أو تفوقها. ومن المعلوم أن الله تعالى ما أتاهم هذه الآيات إلا لهداية خلقه. فكيف يؤتي الدجال أكبر الخوارق لفتنة السواد الأعظم من عباده؟ وسنرى كيف تتوافق هذه النصوص ويفسر بعضها بعضا، بعد أن كانت متناقضة ويعارض بعضها بعضا. وحاشا لله ولرسوله أن يكون في الكتاب والسنة أدنى تعارض.، إذا علمت حقيقة الدجال (الطاغوتية) كما عرفها الإمام مجاهد بن جبر في تفسيره:- " الطاغوت هو الشيطان في صورة إنسان يتحاكمون إليه ، وهو صاحب أمرهم".
