تعاني سمر من كابوس أرُق منامها.. وتكتشف مع الايام أن الفتاة التي تظهر في كابوسها فتاة حقيقية اختفت في ظروف غامضة.. تحاول سمر أن تحل مشكلتها بنفسها وتتفق مع خالتها التي تعمل مديرة لمستشفى للطب النفسي ان تعرض عليها بعض الحالات الغريبة بحجة التدرب على التحقيق الصحفي.. بالرغم من غرابة الحالات التي باشرتها سمر لم تجد حالة مشابهة لحالتها.. تضطر سمر للبوح لخالتها بمشكلتها بعد ان اصبحت فتاة الكابوس تظهر لها وهي مستيقظة.. تظهر علاقة غريبة بين ما يحدث لسمر وبين نوال التي تظهر لها في الكابوس كما تظهر علاقة صديقات سمر بكابوسها الرهيب.. ما بين جريمة تمت في الخفاء وخيانة صديقات تدور احداث الرواية.
