كانت الصحافة في بداوتها رسالة فقط ، فأصبحت الصحافة في دور حضارتها صناعة، وتجارة قبل أن تكون رسالة، وكانت الصحافة الشعبية في دور البداوة تبدو، وكأنها سيدة نفسها، ومالكة أمرها، لا سبيل لأحد عليها، ولا يستطيع حاكم من الحكام أن يخضعها لسلطانه إن كانت هي لا تريد أن تخضع لهذا السلطان ، فأصبحت الصحافة في دور حضارتها عبدة ذليلة للإعلان، عبدة ذليلة لرأس المال، عبدة ذليلة للقراء. وناهيك بالمنافسة القاتلة بين الصحف من أجل القارئ!. إنها منافسة جرفت بعض الصحف في تيار الإثارة حينا، وإشباع الغرائز الخسيسة الرخيصة آخر، إلى غير ذلك من الأمور التي تسمى الصحافة من أجلها باسم «الصحافة الصفراء». وهي الصحافة التي يجني المجتمع من ورائها أسوء الآثار !!
