"يخلق أحمد العرفج في كتابه "" من نواصي أبي سفيان العاصي ""، شخصية من خياله الخصب، يهرب من خلالها عن ملاحقات كثيرة، يمارسها أوصياء الضبط الاجتماعي والدين والسياسة والوطنية.
ويحاول الكاتب من خلال ابتكار الشخصية محاكاة رموز الكتابة في عصور النهضة الإسلامية، فيرمي بكل ما يواجه من نقد ورفض وهجوم تجاه ما خطت حروفه إلى رجل يبحث عنه القارئ فيجده في سطور أحمد العرفج فقط، ولا يعدم الحيلة والمكر في نسبة ما يكتب إليه.
بتوقيعه الحقيقي، ربما لا يستطيع العرفج إطلاق العنان لخياله كما فعل هنا، إذ يقول في واحدة من نواصيه المنقولة عن أبي سفيان: ""استعينوا على قضاء حوائجكم بالقصمان""، وهو تحوير قد يقوده إلى دهاليز ومزالق في غنى عنها، لولا أن أبي سفيان قدس الله سره، كان دائماً حائط صد يقف خلفه العرفج بكل مهارة، تجاري مهارات لاعبه المفضل محمد نور.
يخوض العرفج في نواصي أبي سفيان في ميادين شتى، تجده يمر من أمام مشهد جغرافي يربطه بالمجتمع وسلوكياته والسياسة ودهاليزها، فيعمل شفرته الرشيقة فيه، محدثاً وسماً رقيقاً جذاباً يؤلم ويمتع، وكأنه يسير على قاعدة الألم اللذيذ، الذي نجده في بعض ما نفعل ولا نرفضه، كما في ناصيته: ""الحمد لله أن مدينة أبو ظبي بعيدة عن أم القيوين، حتى لا يفصل بينهما بحجة الاختلاط كما حدث مع جزر أبو موسى"". ولا يتوقف الكاتب على المسرح ذاته بل يقفز بمهارة إلى خشبات أخرى يتصدر فيها المشهد رغم مروره العابر، ويستحوذ على الضوء بعمق المعنى وسهولة المفردة وبساطة النظم مع احتفاظه بأدبيات الحوار التي يقول عنها: ""لا تجادل بليغاً ولا سفيهاً، فالسفيه يؤذيك، والبليغ يغلبك"" ويتابع: هكذا قالوا .. يعني باختصار كل ""تبناً""، ثم يتدارك الموقف بجنون ظريف: ""للمعلومية فإن أكل التبن مفيد للصحة والدليل صحة البهائم التي لا تمرض إلا بتدخل مباشر من المرض""."
