سار في طريق اللؤلؤ حتى أعياه المسير، باحثاً عن وعد الحب المفقود؛ لتقوده خطواته إلى مزيد من التساؤلات؛ أين الحبيبة؟! وأين الطريق إليها؟! وتداعت القلوب لتعلن عن انهزامها أمام القدر وتنسحب لعلَّ يوماً يأتي ويعيد ما قد انكسر.
لم يعد لديه إلا قصاصات الحنين التي تأخذه إلى طيف الحبيبة وهو يناجيها بالعودة؛ لأنه يحتاج حبها، إلا أن الغربة أخذته بعيداً عنها بقسوة لعلها تعاقبه على حبها البريء، والذنب الوحيد لهما، هو هذا الحب الطاهر الذي تكالبت عليه الظروف وغيّرته؛ ليصبح شخصاً آخراً لم يعد كما كان، وليعود إلى حب الليل لأنه يذكِّره بها، ويبدأ بالسير في درب الرحيل دون أن ينتظر سؤالها، فلم تعد الحبيبة هي الحبيبة، ولم يعد هو نفس الحبيب، ويبقى هو بقلبه العليل الذي أصبح بعدها من حجر".
