فرج جبران: كاتِبٌ وصَحَافيٌّ ومُتَرجِم، كانَ يَعمَلُ مَوظَّفًا حُكُومِيًّا في دِيوانِ المُحاسَبةِ بالقاهِرة، ولكِنَّهُ كانَ يَهوَى الصَّحافةَ والأَدَب.
اشتَرَكَ فرج جبران في إِصْدارِ مَجلَّةِ «الشُّعلَة» معَ «محمد علي حماد»، واشترَكَ في تَحْريرِ «آخِر سَاعَة» مُنْذُ نَشْأتِها، وتَرجَمَ كَثِيرًا مِنَ القِصَصِ والرِّواياتِ عَنِ اللُّغَةِ الفَرَنسيَّة، ثُمَّ اتَّجهَ بعْدَ الحرْبِ العالَميَّةِ الثانِيةِ إِلى الرِّحلاتِ والكِتابةِ عَنِ الطَّرائِفِ والغَرائِبِ فِي البِلَادِ الَّتي يَزُورُها، حتَّى لقِيَ حَتْفَه فِي إِحْدى الطَّائِراتِ بعْدَ إِقْلاعِها مِن إيطاليا فِي طَرِيقِها إِلى القاهِرةِ عامَ ١٩٦٠م؛ حيْثُ اخْتَفتِ الطَّائِرةُ فوْقَ البَحْرِ الأَبْيضِ المُتوسِّطِ ولَمْ يُعثَرْ لَها أَوْ لِرُكَّابِها عَلى أَثَر.
تَرَكَ جبران مُؤلَّفاتٍ ومُترجَماتٍ عِدَّة، مِن بَيْنِها: «غَرَام المُلُوك»، و«تَعالَ مَعِي إِلى أُورُوبا»، و«ابْن بَطُّوطةِ الثَّانِي»، وغَيْرُها. وقَدْ كانَتْ وَظِيفتُه الحُكوميَّةُ تُلزِمُه بعَدمِ التَّوْقِيعِ باسْمِهِ فِي بَعْضِ الأَحْيان، فاخْتارَ لنَفسِهِ اسْمًا مُسْتعارًا هُوَ «فَجْر»؛ وهُوَ مُشتَقٌّ مِن اسْمِهِ الكامِل.

حصلت دولة «باكستان» على استقلالها السياسي بعد كفاحٍ مريرٍ بُذلت فيه دماء أبناء شبه القارة الهندية من مسلمين وهندوس وسيخ وغيرهم ضد الإمبراطورية البريطانية الاستعمارية، لتصبح «باكستان» أكبرَ دولةٍ مسلمةٍ في العالم وقد دفعت الاختلافات الثقافية والدينية الكبرى بين أبناء الهند إلى أن يميل زعماءُ النضال المسلمون، أمثال القائد الأعظم «محمد علي جناح»، إلى تفضيل خيار إقامة دولةٍ تضم المسلمين الهنود هي «باكستان» وأخرى تضم الهندوس هي «الهند» وإن كان هذا الحل لم يحُلْ دون قيام الكثير من الصراعات والنزاعات المسلحة بين البلدين، وبخاصةٍ بعد أن طال باكستانَ ظلمٌ بَيِّنٌ في تقسيم الموارد المائية وغيرها، وكذلك ما بثَّه واختلقه الاستعمار قبل رحيله من مشكلات، كالصراع على «كشمير»، لتضاف إلى التحدِّيات الأخرى التي واجهت الدولة الوليدة من أُمِّيةٍ ولاجئين وسعيٍ حثيثٍ لبناء جيشٍ حديثٍ يستند إلى اقتصادٍ قوي
