كان لها في نفسي مظهر الجمال، ومعه حماقة الرجاء وجنونه، ثم خضوعي لها خضوعًا لا ينفعني ، فبدلني الهجر منها مظهر الجلال، ومعه وقار اليأس وعقله. ثم خضوعها لخيالي خضوعًا لا يضرها .. وما أريد من الحب إلا الفن، فإن جاء من الهجر فنّ فهو الحب .
