تعتمد الكاتبة الأمريكية "أورسولاكي لي جوين" في رواية "لافينيا" على "الإنياذة" التي يخصص فيها "فيرجيل" أبرز أبياته لزوجه "إينياس" الثانية "لافينيا" ويركز عليها كنبوءة..
ففي اليوم السابق لنزول "إينياس" إلى "لاتينيوم" تمسك نيران غامضة بشعر "لافينيا" ابنة الملك "لاتينوس" والملكة "أماتا" اللذين كانا يحكمان "لاتينيوم" في عصر ما قبل الرومان، وتفقد "أماتا" طفليها الولدين الصغيرين بعد مرضهما، وتُصاب بالجنون وتصر على زواج "لافينيا" من ابن أختها "تورنوس" ولي عهد "روتاليا" المملكة المجاورة، لكن "لافينيا" تتردد وتتبع كلمات النبوءة.
ويعلن الملك "لاتينوس" أنها سوف تتزوج من "إنياس" الغريب القادم حديثاً من "طروادة" لتبدأ الحرب الأهلية، ويكون مقدراً لبطل "فيرجيل" تأسيس إمبراطورية.
إن رواية "لافينيا" وفقاً لقول المؤلفة قصة تدور فيما يشبه الميثولوجيا غير التاريخية، بعدياً عن عدم اليقين لعلماء الآثار في فترة تاريخية غير واضحة تماماً للمؤرخين من تاريخ ما قبل الإمبراطورية الرومانية.
