لماذا الأزهر الآن؟

الأزهر طوال تاريخه من المؤسسات الدينية الصلبة ذات الاتجاه المحافظ، يحظى علماؤه باحترام الجميع، وتمتد فعالياته إلى شؤون الحياة عامة، لكنه اعتراه في الآونه الأخيرة شيء من الظلال الباهتة التي تحاول أن تطفئ نوره، أو هكذا أريد له أن يكون، فقد شرع قانون جديد للتعليم الأزهري، وتتابعت سلسلة تعيين المشايخ لتولي المناصب الرفيعة بالأزهر بعدما كانت تتم بالانتخاب من بين علمائه، ولقى الأزهر في الآونة الأخيرة هجوما من بعض المفكرين والمؤسسات، لم يلقه في تاريخه.
وهذا الكتاب يتناول الأزهر كجامع وجامعة التعليم الأزهري، والدور السياسي للأزهر، ومنصب شيخ الأزهر نفسه، والقوانين التي حكمت الأزهر وتفاعل المؤسسة الأزهرية للقضايا المعاصرة.
