مذكّرات للكاتب الأمريكي صامويل كليمنز، المعروف باسم مارك توين، وهي عبارة عن مجموعة من اليوميّات والمذكّرات كتبها وكأنّ أبوانا آدم وحوَّاء هما من دوَّنا مذكّراتهما بصفتهما الشخصيّة، كما قام بترجمة الكتاب إلى اللغة العربيّة فرج جبران.
تطلق حوّاء المسمّيات على كل ما يقع تحت عينها وعلى ما تتعامل معه من المخلوقات، هذه الأسماء التي لم يعهدها آدم، حتى أنّه لم يكن قد اعتاد حوّاء بعد، ولم يتأقلم مع طباعها من حبٍ للثرثرة أوالعناية بجمالها من حيث لا يجد هو بدًا لذلك.
قطعت عليه الهدوء والسّكينةَ اللتان اعتادَهما قبل أن تظهر، إذ تتحدّث كثيرًا وتقلّل من شأن هواياتٍ كان يحبّ أن يمارسها مثل الغطس في الشلاّل، الذي اعتبرته مخلوقٌ من أجل متعة النّظر إليه فقط، فحاول الهروب منها لكنّها اقتفت أثره بمساعدة ذئب. ثمّ ظهرت حيّةٌ ناطقة أسعده أنها شغلت حوّاء عنه بالحديث، لكنّها ما لبثت وأن قلبت مزاجه بإقناع حوّاء بتسلّق الشّجرة المحرّمة لقطف ثمارها.
