مارون بن حنا بن الخوري يوحنا عبّود (1886 - 1962)، كاتب وأديب لبناني كبير.. ولد في عين كفاع (من قرى جبيل).
حياته
في سنواته في المدرسة أبدى ميولا أدبية وتفوق في مجال اللغة العربية كما أصدر في عامه الدراسي الأخير مجلة أدبية أسماها الصاعقة. كان قد بدأ بكتابة القصائد ونشر بعضها في جريدة الروضة. أدخله إلى مدرسة مار يوحنا مارون. التي أمضى فيها أربعة أعوام ولكنه رفض الأستمرار فيها لأن أباه كان يقصد بإلحاقه بها أن يهيأه للحياة الكهنوتية ما رغب عنه مارون ورفضه رفضا قاطعا. بعد ذلك التحق بمدرسة الحكمة حيث أمضى فيها سنتين. وقد وجد مارون في هذه المدرسة الجو المؤاتي لتفتح مواهبه الأدبية كما احتك بعدد من الطلاب المولعين بالشعر أمثلا: رشيد تقي الدين وأحمد تقي الدين وسعيد عقل وغيرهم.
وفاته
توفي مارون عبود عام 1962 عن عمر يناهز السابعة والسبعين.

Book Description
هي مجموعة قصص قصيرة وخواطر ومقالات للنّاقد والأديب مارون الخوري،استوحاها من حكاياته التي عاشها، والوجوه التي التقى بها، افتتحها بحكاية أسماها المعلّم، نورد منها: "عرفته في عنفوان شبابه، صدرٌ كالصّندوق على فخذين كعضادتين، وهامة تُثبت للعلماء أنّه كان على وجه الأرض عمالقة، في مشيته شيء من الخيلاء يبرئ تسميتها غطرسة، كأن خطواته موقّعة إيقاعًا أو مقسّمة بالبيكار، مشي السحابة لا ريثٌ ولا عجَلٌ، ولكن ليس إلى بيت جاراته.
يتزيّا بزيّ العلماء ويتوقَّر مثلهم، فأبداه غنبازه «الديما» أطول مما هو، هو متأنّقٌ في كل شيء حتى الحديث، كان يرطل كل كلمة ويروزها قبل أن تنطلق في الهواء، رأسه ثقيل كما يعبّر العوام عن الرّصانة، يدور على قدميه بكلّ مهابة، إن التفت كأنه مصراع بوّابة الدّير المصفَّحة، فلا تسمع منه جلنبلق كما أكّد لنا أبو عثمان المازني، إذ حدثنا عمّا يقوله مصراعا الباب عند الغلق والإصفاقَ. فحصت ضميري فحص ُمؤمن موسوس قبل الاعتراف لأتذكر ابتسامتَه فأصفها، فما تذكّرت قط أنّي رأيته باسًما.
