هذا الكتاب هو عبارة عن مجموعة مختارات من أعمال الشاعر والروائي إبراهيم نصر الله السابقة
وضم الكتاب بين دفتيه قصائد مختارة من دواوين عدة وهي :"عواصف القلب"، و"شرفات الخريف"، و"كتاب الموت والموتى و"حجرة الناي". إذ كانت هذه الدواوين أشبه بوحدة واحدة قام إبراهيم نصر الله بنشرها على أكثر من مرحلة وقام بتجميع النخبة منها في هذا الكتاب.
وتتجه مضامين المختارات نحو مواضيع تتعلق بالإنسان وتؤثر في حياته وتصوّر مدى قدرتها على خلق حيرة مستمرة اتجاه ما ينتظره من أحداث. كما يتطرق إلى المراحل التي يمر بها الناس من مرحلة الطفولة وصولاً إلى مرحلة النضج.
هذا الكتاب هو عبارة عن مزيج من الجمال، والإبداع والبلاغة والتنوع والمعاصرة والأصالة، مزيج متكامل عاد على هيئة الياسمين ليبهر كل من تقع عيناه عليه، وكأنه ومضة خاطفة تخبئ في ضوئها أسمى آيات الجمال.
وفي القصيدة الأولى بهذا الديوان والتي عنوانها "حيرة" يقول:
في البداية..
قالت الخيل أريد سهولا
قالت النسور أريد القمم
قالت الأفاعي أريد جحورا
وظل الإنسان حائرا..
