ولم يكن في العالم كله حينئذ إلا تلك البلاد التي نشأ فيها بَطَلَا هذه القصة، فيما يقول القصَّاصون، أعني: رواة القصص الذين يحكونها.
وقد أطلق القصاصون على تلك البقعة البعيدة من الأرض اسم: «بلاد العجائب»، لأن كل ما فيها لا يصدقه عقل، كما تحدثنا بذلك الأساطير والأخبار الخيالية القديمة.
وتخبرنا الأسطورة عن غلامٍ اسمه "لافظ" قد نشأَ في بلاد العجائب من غيرِ أمٍّ ولا أبٍ كما ينشأُ الأطفالُ جميعاً في تلكَ البلاد كلِّها.
كيف يعيشُ لافظ وحدَهُ في تلك البلاد؟ ومن هي "لاحظة" وما سرُّ صندوقها المُقفِل؟
