ألّف الكاتب الصّيني سون تزو كتابَ «فن الحرب» وهو بمثابة إطروحة تعود إلى الثّقافة الصينيّة وتتعلّق بالمجال العسكري، وقد خطّ أطروحته هذه في القرن السادس قبل الميلاد. ويتكوّن من ثلاثة عشر فصلاً، يقدّم فيها تجربةً ثريّةً في تطوير الذّات، ويُعتبر من أهمّ مائة كتابٍ عبر التّاريخ.
جاء في أكثر من ستّة آلاف مقطع باللّغة الصينيّة، قُسّمت أجزاؤه حسب ما اشتملت عليه من مواضيع، حيث كرّس كل فصل منها لخاصيّة من خصائص الحرب، ممّا بوّءَه ليكون مرجعاً هاماً وشاملاً لإستراتيجيّات الحرب والوسائل العسكريّة.
حمل في زمنه قيمةً عاليةً لما تضمّنه من إنجازات في التّخطيط العسكري، فكان له أثرٌ خاص على كبار رجالات السّياسة والقادة العسكريّين، أمثال نابليون بونابرت، الذي فعّل دورَه لدى الأركان العامّة الألمانيّة، كما كان مُلهمًا للزّعيمٍ العالمَي ماو تسي تونج.
ترجمه المنصر الفرنسي آميوت، وكان ذلك قبل مائتي عام، وقد لعب دورًا في التّخطيط لعمليّة حرب الخليج الثّالثة "عاصفة الصّحراء". كما تُرجم إلى تسعٍ وعشرينَ لغة أجنبيّة، وإلى العربيّة أيضًا.
