وهنا في "فتاة القيروان " يسرد الكاتب الوقائع التاريخية لظهور دولة الفاطميين و صعودها في إفريقيا من خلال قصة حب رومانسية بين فتاة من القيروان وأميرصقلّي.
يناقش الكاتب من خلال الأحداث دخول مصر في حوزة الفاطميين سنة 358هـ على يد القائد جوهر و إبادة دولة الإخشيد إثر انغماس حكامها في الترف واستبدادهم بالرعية وانقسام جندهم ، و خروج مصر بذلك من حوزة الدولة العباسية مما سبب بتغير حالتها السياسية، وأصبحت دولة مستقلة بنفسها استقلالا تامّاً، لا تراجع أحداً و لا تعترف بسيادة أحد غير الخليفة الفاطمي المقيم في القاهرة ، وهي أول مرة استقلت فيها مصر بالسيادة بعد الإسلام.
كما تطرقت الرواية إلى مناقب المعز لدين الله وقائده جوهر الصقلي، ووصفت بدقّة أخلاق برابرة إفريقيا وعاداتهم في ذلك الوقت.
تتوالى أحداث الرواية بسرد سلس ممتع وحبكة مشوّقة تضع القاريء وسط الأحداث وتُثبت قوة المرأة العربية في تحريك الساحة السياسيّة منذ الأزل.
