اشتم "بك" عبق التاريخ في بلاد القياصرة وراح يصفها بأعذب الأوصاف والتعابير البلاغية السلسة كوصف العاشق المفتون لمعشوقته، فرأى فيها الجمال والأناقة وقد غلبت على طباع ساكنيها، وعبر عن ذلك في الكثير من المظاهر التي تشي بجمال روسيا وأهلها ومنها الأدوية التي تُعطى للمرضى ملتصقة بها ورقة جميلة عليها اسم المريض، أما عن طيب الأطعمة فذكر الصنوف المختلفة كشوربة الكرنب وشوربة السمك والتي يتناولونها مع الكريمة نظرًا لطبيعة روسيا المناخية ذات البرد القارص فيحتاج معها المرء من الطعام ما يبعث على الدفء، كما ويصف المياه المعدنية المتوفرة لديهم للشرب، وأن الفودكا هي الشراب الرائج هناك تحتكره صناعته الحكومة الروسية.
