قد يظن البعض أن في الابتعاد عن الوطن تنسلخ الهوية الأدبية وتتقولب بقالب بلاد المهجر وما تمليه عليهم بحكم تغير الطبيعة المكانية والهواجس المتمثلة بمعاناة وألم البعد عن الوطن والحنين الدائم له من جهة، وضغوطات وصعوبات التأقلم في المهجر من جهة أخرى؛ إلا أن هذا ما تم دحضه على يد أدباء المهجر، فعلى الرغم من مكابدتهم لشتى أنواع الألم بعيدًا عن الوطن الأم، إلا أن ذلك لم يُضِف إلى محتوى كتاباتهم إلا مزيدًا من العمق كي يبقَى أدب الوطن فتيًا في كتاباتهم وحاضرًا في أذهانهم.
في هذا الكتاب تجسيد لمعاناة كوكبة أدباء المهجر، والذين أطلق عليهم لقب "الآباء الشرقيون"، وما أثمرت عنها من كتابات أثرت المكتبة العربية بانفرادية الأداء والأسلوب، كما وأسمهت في فتح الحضارات على بعضها البعض لما احتوت عليه من الحكمة والفضيلة، مشيرًا إلى عظيم دور"أمين الريحاني" الذي كان له نصيب الأسد من بين الكوكبة هذه في نشر لواء أدب الشرق في الغرب، وتسليط الضوء على فلسفة المعرّي وغيره من رواد الفلسفة العربية أمام الفلاسفة الغرب. ويشيد بذلك إلى ضرورة التعرف على أعماله وانجازاته.
