«محمّد علي»، كتابٌ في التأريخ، لمؤلّفه إلياس الأيّوبي، يتحدّث فيه عن شخصيّة تاريخيّة من شخصيّات مصر، وهو «محمد علي باشا» الذي أسّس الدولة المصريَّة الحديثة في بداية القرن التاسع عشر الميلادي.
أرَّخ الكتاب لتاريخ مصر الحديث، منذ أن تسلّم محمد علي حكم البلاد عام ١٨٠٥م، وكان من انتخاب الشعب المصريِّ له، بعدما أطاح بسلفه «خورشيد باشا»، وقدّم وصفًا لمحمّد علي، وتقديرًا وإشادةً بعمله.
هو من مقدونيا وطن «الإسكندر الأكبر»، جاء إلى مصر مهد الحضارة، واستطاع أن يؤسِّس في أرض النّيل لمشروع نهضة شاملة في كافّة المجالات السياسيَّة والعسكريَّة والاقتصاديَّة والتعليميَّة، تخلّص من أعدائه السياسيين كي يُدعَّم أركان الحكم.
توسَّع محمد علي في حكمه، وضمَّ السودان إليه، احتفظ لأبنائه بوراثة عرش مصر، ممّا مكّنه من الاستقلال عن الدولة العثمانيَّة، واستمرّ في متابعة تدريب الجيش المصريِّ وتحديثه إلى مستويات عالية، فأصبح جيشه أقوى جيش في الشرق آنذاك، وأسَّس لقيام مشروعات تنمويَّة ضخمة، كما طوّر بنظم التعليم، وأرسل بعثات علميَّة إلى أوروبا.
