مارغريت دوراس (بالفرنسية: Marguerite Duras) شاعرة وكاتبة وكاتبة مسرحية ومخرجة فرنسية.
أشتهرت في فرنسا والعالم الفرنكفوني بالتنوع الأدبي والمعاصرة كما كانت كاتبة للقصص القصيرة وسيناريوهات الأفلام وهي تعتبر من أهم الأدباء الفرنسيين في النصف الثاني من القرن العشرين.
ولدت في 4 أبريل 1914 في سايغون حين كانت سايغون مستعمرة فرنسية وهي تسمى الآن مدينة هو شي منه في دولة الفيتنام.
توفى والدها مبكراً وبقيت وهي ووالدتها وأخيها وأختها.
ارتبطت بعلاقة بشاب صيني ترك أثراً في كتاباتها.
وكذلك السنين السبع العشر التي عاشتها في شرق آسيا مع الظروف الصعبة وسوء المعاملة من الأم والأخ كل ذلك ترك آثراً في كتاباتها اللاحقة.
زارت باريس في عمر السابعة عشر وبدأت تدرس هناك الرياضيات.
ثم تركت الرياضيات وبدأت تدرس العلوم السياسية والقانون وانتمت إلى الحزب الشيوعي الفرنسي.
وتوفيت في 11 أبريل 1996 في باريس.

حكايتان لمارغريت دوراس هما "الرجل الجالس في الرواق" و"التدمير"، تجمعهما دفّتا هذا الكتاب وتجمع بينهما تيمات دوراس وكثافة نصوصها المعتادة ولغتها الأخّاذة التي تحمل جدلية الصمت والغياب. الرجل، والمرأة، والرغبة، والشغف، والعنف، والأنا... كلّها مواضيع تتقن الروائية الفرنسية المتميّزة معالجتها ببساطةٍ أقل ما يُقال فيها إنها عارمة.
في "الرجل الجالس في الرواق" امرأةٌ، ورجلٌ وصمتٌ وعيون...
في "التدمير"، امرأةٌ ورجلان لا تربط بينهم أيّ معرفةٍ مسبقة إنما يجمعهم فندقٌ واحد: إليزابيت أليون، وماكس تور، وشتاين، يتبادلون نظرات صامتة، واهتماماً يزداد كلّ لحظة. ثم تنضمَّ إليهم أليسا زوجة ماكس، وبرنارد زوج إليزابيت. في الفندق، تدور قصةٌ صاعقةٌ كالحبّ، صامتةٌ كالموت، خطيرةٌ كالجنون، وغريبةٌ كالإنسان. في الفندق، تدمّر دوراس أبطالها لتحرّرهم، تملؤهم رغبةً وشغفاً بالحياة، تدفعهم باتجاه الغابة المرعبة، لتفتح أمامهم آفاقاً قلّما سلكها أحد.
"التدمير" روايةٌ سيطرت على جميع حواس دوراس حتى بعد انتهائها منها، فحوّلتها إلى فيلم من إخراجها هي، ولم تتمكّن من مباشرة الكتابة من بعدها.
"التدمير" كتابٌ لا يشبه سوى مارغريت دوراس...
