تمرُّ الأيام بإيقاعها العادي، بين البحث عن عمل ومساعدة والدي بحسابات مؤسسته، -والقرار بعدم الالتزام معه بشكلٍ ثابت ضمنيٌّ-. لا أريد أيّ نوع من أنواع الصدام معه، وأنا شبه متأكد أنّ هذا ما سيُفضي إليه الوضع في حال الاستمرار، هو يرجوني ولكن بشكل غير مباشر، حين يتعلّل بتقدّم عمره وتراجع صحته وفقدان صبره على الزبائن -لاسيّما الجدد منهم-. أنا أدرك تماماً أنّ ما أحلم به لن يكون مشواراً بين مؤسسة وبيت؛ فتستهلكني روتينية الحياة، وأتحوّل إلى جزء من منظومة، أو قطعة أثاث يُمسح عنها الغبار حيناً بعد حين. أعاود لقاء الأصدقاء القدامى وأبني صداقات جديدة؛ فسفراتي الطويلة نسبياً والتي استمرّ كلٌّ منها ثلاث سنوات أبعدتني كثيراً عن أصدقائي القدامى، وتقاطعت حيواتنا وتباينت؛ الثقافة، والميول، والمزاج...وأصبح لكلٍّ منهم عائلته وانشغالاته. حين التقيت بعائش بعد كل هذه السنوات، حاولت أن أكتشف جديداً ما في شخصيته، أو تراكم تجربة معيّنة قد حصّلها، لكنّني لم أجد شيئاً؛ هذا هو عائش بعدم تركيزه، والقفز في أحاديثه من غير جدوى، وكثرة مغامراته النسائية التي تفشل دائماً. تبقى بيننا ذكريات طفولة تربطنا، وخفة دم منه، وأخبار لا تنتهي تجمعنا... حين دعاني إلى بيت محمود كي نلتقي جميعاً من جديد -جيران الحي وبعض أصدقاء المدرسة -، تردّدت قليلاً ثم وافقت، لا أعرف لماذا وافقت، ربّما لفضول انتابني كي أرى أين أوصلتهم الأيام ...
