كان بحثي «النعت ووظائفه التركيبيّة والدلاليّة في شعر أمل دنقل» , وهو -كما يظهر من عنوانه- محاولة لربط النحو بالشعر , وتوظيف العَلاقات النحوية في فَهْم الشعر وتحليله واستيعابه من خلال الشعر نفسه .ويُعَدُّ التركيب النعتي مُكوِّنا من مُكوِّنات القصيدة في شعر أمل دنقل , ولا يتأدّى المعنى المرادُ إلاَّ به في كثير من الأحيان , كما أنّ له دورًا بالغًا في تآلف النسيج الشعريّ , واستقامة الوزن والقافية والمعنى , ويمكن أن يُعَدَّ النعت - بعدّه معنى من المعاني النحويّة - مدخلاً صالحًا لتناول النصّ الشعريّ ؛ فهو أحد القيود الدلاليّة ذات الأثر الفعّال في إبراز المعنى المراد من التركيب في بناء الجملة , ولا يمكن الاستغناء عنه ؛ لما له من دور في التعبير عن الأغراض التي يريدها المتكلم والتي تتجدد بتجدد السياق والموقف اللغويّ ومقصد المتكلم . كما يحاول هذا البحث إحصاء هذه الظاهرة , مع الحرص على أن تُفَسَّر في سياقها النصي الذي وردت فيه , وقد اخترت لذلك شعر أمل دنقل ليكون مادّة أدرس فيها هذه الظاهرة ؛ لما له من مكانة بين الشعراء المحدَثين بعدّه رائدًا من روّاد حركة الشعر الجديد , أو ما أطلق عليه «الشعر الحرّ» في مقابل الشعر «التقليدي» أو «العمودي» , إلى جانب مادّته الشعريّة الزاخرة بهذه الظاهرة , فقد توفرت التراكيب النعتية في شعره بصورة واضحة وأفصحت عن الدلالة التي يريدها , متوافقة مع النسيج الشعريّ.
