يبرز بوضوح انزياح الوعي خارج المكان في قصص «قطارات تصعد إلى السماء» للكاتب العراقي فاتح عبد السلام في رصده مظاهر اللجوء الإنساني لمختلف الجنسيات في الغرب، ويفعل ذلك من خلال "رحلة العبور" الحياتي كما تتخيلها ذاكرة السارد المتنقلة مع كل رحلة قطار، فلكل عبور حكاية، حكاية لا تشبه غيرها ولكنها تفضي إلى تشظي الذات/الساردة بين عالمين غير متجانسين شرق/غرب، في سياق يفترض أن يكون مؤقتاً وعابراً، ولكنه يتحول عبر الزمن إلى صيغة أخرى للحياة والسلوك والتيه… ويتم تظهير الوقائع السردية والتعبير عن كل حالة باقتراحات أسلوبية مغايرة تقترب من العوالم السوريالية الغريبة والطريفة والمفاجئة لأفق انتظار المتلقي…

"… اقترب رأسها منه واختفى. ساد صمت في العربة، لا يخدشه سوى صوت انسياب القطار على السكّة. ظهرت الغابة المعتمة يوشّحها ضوء قمر محاصر بالغيوم. كأنّ القطار كان يتجه وسط ذلك الظلام إلى نهاية مجهولة.
بدأ صوت القطار يتهدّج، ثم انطفأت الأنوار داخله، وهو يدخل المحطّة الأخيرة.
نزل آخر ثلاثة ركّاب، وبقيتُ في مكاني لحظات كان أمدها طويلاً وقاسياً. لم أكن أتوقّع أن تكون المحطّة الأخيرة قريبةً بهذه السرعة. كنت ُ حزيناً وعاجزاً عن فعل أشياء كانت تحفر في أعماقي.
أردت أن أصرخ بقوة حبيسة منذ سنوات في صدري: "لا تجعلوها المحطّة الأخيرة". غير أنّهم اختفوا أمامي، فيما كنتُ أكابد ذلك الشعور المرّ الذي فاض في نفسي، فلم أعد أرى شيئاً. حقّاً لم أتوقّع أن تكون المحطّة الأخيرة بهذا القرب".
