ان المشاركة المجتمعية ضرورة بكونها عملية منظمة توكد علي دور المواطنين افراد وجماعات في علمية اتخاذ القرارات من خلال مساهمتهم بوسائل متعددة بتوفير المعلومات،وتقديم الدعم اللازم لاتخاذ القرار.
ومن المعلوم ان كل البرامج المتعلقة بالتخطيط العمراني تتضمن تخطيط ومتابعة المشاريع التخطيطة التي تنتهجها الحكومة المحلية انطلاقا من الاستراتيجيات العامة التي تصاغ لرسم خطط التنمية الشاملة لذا يلزم سياغة برامج متخصصة واضحة الاهداف ترتكز علي المشاركة المجتمعية ومبنية علي اسس عملية تكون ذات علاقه وطيدة بالملامح العامة لخطط التنمية.
ولكن لا تزال المشاركة المجتمعية كافكار وتطبيقات بحاجة الي مزيد من اهتمام الباحثين من اجل تحديد اكثر دقة للاطر التي التحمها ويعد هذا الكتاب في التخطيط العمراني ما هو الا محاولة من الكاتب اضافة الي المحاولات السابقة من الاخرين؛للغوص في اعماق هذه القضية محاولا فهمها وتاكيد اهميتها وبالاخص في مجال التخطيط العمراني.
