ترعرت جيليان فلين في كانزاس سيتي، ميزوري وارتادت جامعة كانساس. هي حصلت على شهادة ماجستير من جامعة نورث وسترن وقد عملت لدى مجلة انترتينمنت ويكلي. هي متزوجة من بريت نولان ولديهما ابن واحد.

صدرت النسخة العربية من رواية «Dark Places» تحت عنوان «أماكن مظلمة» وهي من تأليف "جيليان فلين" وترجمة "أنس حمراء" ومراجعة وتحرير مركز التعريب والبرمجة. تحولت هذه الرواية إلى فيلم سينمائي وترجمت إلى أربعين لغة عالمية. وفي هذه الرواية؛ تقع جريمة مروّعة ذات ليل، تذهب ضحيتها أم وابنتاها وتوجّه التهمة إلى الإبن الذي يدخل السجن. لكن الإبنة الناجية من المجزرة تقرر كشف المستور لمعرفة من الذي ارتكب الجريمة؟ وفي أثناء حلّ اللغز وتفكيك العقد تظهر حقائق مذهلة، من طقوس مرعبة، إلى تفككات أسرية، وتحرّشات جنسية، وأمراض نفسية، وصولاً إلى ممارسات عصابات القتل وسماسرة الأراضي وملوّثي البيئة وحين تنجلى الحقيقة تكون المفاجأة التي لا تخطر على بال. فكما اجتمع الضحايا، اجتمع القتلة. قصة آسرة يمتزج فيها الخيال الجامح بالواقع. تنحدر أحداثها إلى قعر النفس الإنسانية لتكشف عن الوجه الدنيء والمقزز في الممارسات والمعاملات. وترتقي أحياناً – ولو نادرة – إلى ذرى الطيبة والنقاء في نفوس مسالمة وصافية. حول المؤلفة "جيليان فلين": حازت جليان فلين في الظهور الأول لروايتها "أدوات حادة" جائزة (إدغار) الأولى وهو الكتاب الذي حصد جائزتين من جوائز (السيف البريطاني). تعيش في شيكاغو مع زوجها "بريت نولان"، ولدت في 24 شباط سنة 1971 وترعرعت في كنساس سيتي/ميسوري. ارتادت جامعة كنساس ونالت الماجستير من جامعة (نورث ويسترن). عملت لدى مجلة – إنترتينمنت ويكلي الأسبوعية.
