"التجوال، عادة أوروبية شهيرة، بدءًا من المشي في المنتزهات والحدائق والغابات وانتهاءً بالسفر. تحول التجوال طبقًا للمفهوم الأوربي إلى عمل سحري يربط بين الرياضة والتأمل، وبين صخب الحاضر وجعجعة حيوانات منقرضة. إنه فرصة للعتاب المتبادل وإشباع الفضول والترويح عن النفس بسرد الذكريات وتبادل النكات والنوادر. ومن هنا جاء العنوان الرمزي الذي اخترناه للترجمة العربية لرواية ""حكايات الآباء والأبناء"" للأديب التشيكي إميل هاكل، وهو ""سرادق طائر البطريق"". هذا الكتاب هو حكاية من إحدى جولات أب جاوز السبعين من عمره مع ابنه البالغ الأربعين عامًا. هذه الرواية تبدو لنا من الوهلة الأولى رواية بسيطة تحكي موقفًا مبتذلًا. ابن في الأربعين يذهب للتمشية مع والده. يعمل الابن مصمم جرافيك حر، يعيش مع صديقته مارتا التي تبلغ من العمر 26 عامًا. درست علوم اللغة في كلية الآداب وتعمل من المنزل في مشاريع بحثية. الأب عالم أحياء متقاعد، يعمل في حديقة الحيوان بعد بلوغه سن المعاش، رجل مثقف وواسع الاطلاع. كل ما يجمع الرجلين هو لقاءهما الشهري الوحيد والخروج معًا للتمشية، وتبادل الأحاديث واسترجاع الذكريات، والتعليق على أمور الحياة والعالم. ما يربطهما أيضًا بضعة أعوام من حياة مشتركة مليئة تتأرجح بين النجاح والفشل. إنها رواية عن لقاء في جولة استمرت نصف يوم، تكشف لنا أنه رغم الاختلاف في الرأي والفكر وفي طريقة الحياة، سنجد دائمًا شيئًا ما يجمعنا.
