حاول (فرانك) أن يُقاطِعَ حديثَه، لكنَّ المخلوق رفع يدًا آمرةً بالصَّمتِ قائلًا: ""هنالك بُقعٌ في النِّهاياتِ العصبيَّةِ لا يمكنُ حتى لأكثر تَخيُّلاتِكَ جُموحًا أن تستثيرَها!""
ردَّ (فرانك) بذهولٍ: ""حقًّا؟""
""أوه، نعم، بالتأكيد! حتى أكثر رغباتِك انحرافًا مجرد لَهْوِ أطفالٍ مقارنةً بالتجاربِ التي سنمنحُكَ إيَّاها! لذا.. هل تريد أن تختبِرَها؟""
نَظَرَ (فرانك) إلى آثار جُروحِهم ونُدباتِهم، ثم أجاب بارتباكٍ: ""هلَّا فعلتَ ذلك؟""
في مكان ما بالخارجِ سيستيقظُ العالَمُ عمَّا قريبٍ، وقد شاهده (فرانك) من النافذة وهو يستيقظ مرارًا وتكرارًا من ذات الغرفة، يدور حول نفسه ليجوبَ بضجرٍ جولةً تلو الأخرى من المساعي الحياتية العقيمة، وهو يعلم - أو كان يعلم- أنه لم يعد هناك شيءٌ في الخارج يُثيرُ اهتمامَه..
