كما يتعرّض الكتاب لحال كثير من أقرانه وخلّانه في تلك الحقبة من الزمن، ويذكّر أيضاً بحال السلف من خلال الربط بين حال المتأخرين وحال السلف رحمهم الله وبيان أنّ كليهما يغرف ويرتوي من بحر رسولنا محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم ومن حال صحابته الكرام.
كما يمرّ الكتاب على كثير من الأبحاث التي يلفّها لغط كبير وحصل بسببها نزاع عريض بين بعض الفئات من أهل العلم ويسلّط الضوء عليها.
فهو كتاب غني بمواضيعه وأبحاثه وأحوال كثير من رجالات القرن الماضي.
