غیوم سوداء ثقیلة - لم تهطل - کانت الدموع فی عینیها.
حاولت أن تحرك جسداً مشلولاً بفعل المفاجأة، واستطاعت بعد جهد أن تضع قدميها على الأرض، وأن تقف، حافية. تجاهد المشي إلى داخل غرفتها.
أوصدت الباب من الداخل. شعرت بالإرهاق وكأنها مشت دهراً من الزمان.
جلست على طرف السرير.. هل يمكن أن يكون ما سمعته صحيحا ؟! صفقت يداً بأخرى. نهضت واقفة. أخذت تدور في أرجاء الغرفة الضيقة.
جلست على الأرض. مدت ساقيها أمامها. أخذت تعرك قدميها واحدةً بالأخرى في عصبية هوجاء. ثم اخذت تصفق بيديها في حسرة. وحتى تلك اللحظات، لم تنزل دمعة واحدة من عينيها.
بدأت بالتأوه. شبكت كفيها الإثنتين فوق رأسها . تمايل جسدها يمنة ويسرة في حركة رتيبة بينما اطرافها ترتعش.
ثم إنبثق الدمع شلالاً يتفجر، ساخناً، من مقلتيها، وأخذت تبكي وتنوح ، وهي تحاول عبثاً کتمان صوت نشیجها.
