يهدف هذا الكتاب إلى تناول موضوع شائك ومثير للجدل هو التربية الجنسية، فيحاول الكتاب تعريف القارئ بالمفهوم الصحيح للتربية الجنسية، ومتى تبدأ وكيف، وإلقاء الضوء على موقف المجتمع منها، والوقوف على مخاطر غيابها، ومدى إمكانية تقديمها فى وسائل الإعلام ، وكيفية علاج بعض الانحرافات الجنسية الناجمه عن مخاطرها، كما يستعرض الكتاب دراسة تم إجراءها على عينة من الشباب المصرى بالجامعات الخاصة والحكومية حول دور بعض برامج القنوات الفضائية العربية فى التربية الجنسية للمراهقين من شباب الجامعة، وهل هم مع أو ضد تناولها فى وسائل الاعلام ، وهل لدى الشباب معلومات وتصورات مغلوطة حول التربية الجنسية ، وهل لوسائل الإعلام دورا فى إمداد الشباب معلومات صحيحة حول الجنس، خاصة وأننا تربينا فى مجتمعات تعتبر الجنس عيب وحرام، فلو كان الأمر كذلك ما كان المسلمون لجؤا لرسول الله للتحدث معه فى هذا الأمر، ولما وهب الله الانسان الأعضاء الجنسية، وبعد وفاة الرسول لم يجد المسلمون من هو أهل للتحدث معه فى هذا الشأن وظلوا يرفضون الحديث حتى وصل الأمر لدرجة التحريم . وأصبح الجنس تابو لا يمكن الاقتراب منه.
ما نود الاشارة إليه فى هذا الكتاب هو أن الحديث عن الجنس ليس حراما ولا عيبا ولكن لابد من مراعاة الضوابط والمعايير الأخلاقية والديبنية والمراحل العمرية للمتلقى بحيث تقدم المعلومات الجنسية بشكل لائق وغير خادش للحياء، وبما يكفل الأمن والحماية للإنسان فى كل مرحلة عمرية من مراحل حياته المختلفة، فما يحتاجه طفل فى الست سنوات الأولى من عمره من معلومات جنسية، يختلف تمام الاختلاف عن ما يحتاجه المراهق من معلومات، يختلف عما يحتاجه المقبلين على الزواج من معلومات، ووسائل الاعلام يمكنها القيام بالدور التوعوى المناسب لذلك مع التمسك بالضوابط سالفة الذكر.
