أطفأ سيجارته فجأة في الطبق وانتفض من مكانه غاضبًا وخرج كالزوبعة من غرفة السفرة. تناول معطفه من على المِشْجَبِ وخرج من المنزل صافعًا الباب وراءه بقوة. كانت دموع والدتها قد بدأت تسيل على خديها عندما نهضت "ديما" من مكانها وركضت إلى معطفها، لبسته ولحقت بوالدها."بابا استناني" نادت عليه من أعلى السلم. أخذا يسيران بصمت تحت شمسيته السوداء الكبيرة والمطرة على أشدها ويدها تسرتخي بأمان في يده الدافئة داخل جيب معطفه الرمادي الكبير. كم تمنت لو أن جيبه يتسع لها كلها. بعد قليل كسرت الصمت وسألته بصوت قلق : "بابا بدك تتركنا وترجع على الشام ؟"
"كلنا رح نرجع مع بعض"
"وإذا ماما ما رضيت ؟"
سؤال كان يتجنب التفكير فيه...
