"أدت القفزات المتسارعة في تكنولوجيا الإتصال إلى تعدد القنوات التلفزيونية الفضائية، ما فتح ويفتح آفاقاً جديدة أمام الجمهور الذي لم يعد بإمكان القنوات العامة ملء إشباعاته مما يحتاجه من معارف ومعلومات، الأمر الذي أدى إلى إنشاء قنوات متخصصة تهتم بقضايا محددة. بدأت القنوات الإقتصادية كغيرها من القنوات المتخصصة الأخرى تأخذ حيزها في الفضاء الإعلامي العربي وتستقطب جمهورها الخاص، ومن ثم وبسبب إتساع مفهوم الإقتصاد وتعدد مجالاته بدأت هذه الفضائيات مرحلة الإنتقال من التخصص العام إلى التخصص الدقيق، لتظهر لنا فضائيات متخصصة بالأسهم والعقارات والتسوق والمال والأعمال وغيرها، ولأن مهمة الإعلام الإقتصادي بشكل عام هي تعريف الجمهور بالنشاطات والفعاليات الإقتصادية، وتشجيع حركة التبادل الإقتصادي والإستثماري بشتى مجالاته، ونشر ثقافة التنمية من خلال عرض وتحليل المضامين الإقتصادية في قوالب وأطر إخبارية تخدم أهداف تثقيف الجمهور وتزويده بالمعلومات التي تمس حياته اليومية، وتوجيهه لمساعدة نفسه في تطوير حياته المعاشية، وتحديد إحتياجات ومشكلات المجتمع وترتيب أولوياته وإختيار أنسب الطرق لمعالجتها، فإنها في المقابل تتيح للجهات الحكومية والقطاع الخاص وضع إستراتيجية خاصة بالتخطيط الإقتصادي والتنموي.
ويسعى هذا الكتاب إلى معرفة مدى إهتمام القنوات الإقتصادية العربية بمشاريع وقضايا الإعمار ، وأهم القضايا التي تركز عليها هذه القنوات، والمدى الزمني الذي تخصصه لها في نشراتها الإخبارية وبرامجها.
كما ويعنى هذا الكتاب بمعرفة مستوى إهتمام الجمهور العام من جهة وجمهور رجال الأعمال والمستثمرين من الجهة الأخرى بقضايا الإعمار، ودور القنوات الإقتصادية العربية في تشكيل معارفهم وإتجاهاتهم نحوها.
